Bye bye 2022!

Tomorrow at midnight we say "peace out 2022" and welcome in 2023.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this.  This year FLEW - literally we blinked and its over.

+++++++++

1) What did you do in 2022 that you'd never done before?
- traveled to Seattle
- traveled to California and Disneyland

2) Did you keep your New Year's resolutions and will you make more?
Yes! I had a few goals and will make more for the new year.

3) Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes my work bestie!

4) Did anyone close to you die?
Our family dog Frisco

5) What countries did you visit?
1 - Aruba! And I'll go back over and over again!!

6) What states did you visit?
Washington, California, Arizona (by way of 4 layovers), North Carolina (by way of 2 layovers), Illinois

7) What would you like to have in 2023 that you lacked in 2022?
Respect from some people who think they are entitled to it yet don't think they have to respect me.

8) What date(s) from 2022 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
Finally visiting Disneyland. It was a rescheduled covid trip and it was very magical!

9) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Receiving the Golden apple teaching award. It shows me that reentering the teaching world was what I needed to do.

10) What was your biggest failure?
Allowing certain people to have power over me. Not speaking up to some people.

11) Did you suffer illness or injury?
Got covid in August. Knocked me out for 10+ days.

12) What was the best thing you bought?
Hardsided luggage. Bye bye cloth!

13) Who's behavior merited celebration?
My squad! They are always there no matter when I need them.

14) Who's behavior made you appalled and depressed?
All 8 of my husband's family members + a few others that'll remain nameless.

15) Where did most of your money go?
Traveling and groceries

16) What did you get really excited about?
going to Disneyland!

17) What song will remind you of 2021?
Mr Red White & Blue by Coffey Anderson

18) Compared to this time last year, are you:
a. happier or sadder? in the middle
b. thinner or fatter? stronger!
c. richer or poorer? in the middle

19) What do you wish you had done more of?
Speaking my mind. Respect is earned not given and I'm taking that into 2023 with me. I'm done trying to force stuff to happen that won't.

20) How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve - church, lunch out, crafting, Christmas Vacation watching, our present exchange
Christmas day - my Dads all day

21) Did you fall in love in 2022?
I continuously fall in love year after year

22) How many one night stands?
Zero

23) What do you wish you had done less of?
Caring about what others think. I cannot force someone to be my friend but I can weed out the ones who aren't.

24) What was your favorite TV program?
Yellowstone!

25) Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate last year?
Yes. I have a few people on my highly dislike list. I don't normally say that either but I've had a lot of time to think this year.

26) What was the best book you read?
I can't pick just one book that is the best. Check out my Goodreads list and see for yourself. I only read 60 books this year but that's ok!

27) What was your greatest musical discovery?
Waay too many songs to list. My playlist keeps getting longer and longer.

28) What did you want and get?
I wanted to travel and we surely did that!

29) What did you want and not get?
Nothing!

30) What was your favorite film this year?
I've watched too many movies to remember the favorites

31) What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I turned 41 and we celebrated with shopping and dinner with my family one night. The other night friends came over for a bonfire.

32) What was one thing that would have made your year immensely satisfying?
My husband standing up for us/himself in many situations. It's hard to watch his family not want to be a family.

33) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2022?
cozy casual - lots of leggings, jeans. Now that masks are gone I'm trying to do makeup more again.

34) What kept you sane?
Burn Boot Camp and the friends we've made there that we see at our camp time daily. Knowing I get to release my anger and frustration daily helps a lot!

35) What celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I honestly don't go gaga over any. 🤷‍♀️

36) What political issue stirred you the most?
Covid...still. Honestly only because it drove my inlaws apart. They don't see that it can't solely be blamed on it (there's a history of this happening with eaxh generation) but they don't leave their house unless they have to, they don't get together with all of us. They still mask up and glove up which is ridiculous. Keith has tried so hard for them to realize that it's here to stay, just like the flu, colds etc and they don't care. His dad actually said he's embarrassed to go out bc his wife makes him mask up. Stand up to her then, I do not understand why people are so afraid of the woman. I'm not. His sister refuses to see family too but no problems having big parties with friends etc. It's a huge mess!

37) Who did you miss?
My momma day in, and day out

38) Who was the best new person that you met?
Hmmm

39) Tell a valuable lesson you learned in 2022?
Travel. Ignore the negativity. You only got 1 life to live, live it!

40) Quote a song lyric to sum up your year:
"Don't Stop Believing" will be it forever!

Cheers to 2023 - may it be an awesome year!

Cheers to the New Year!

Blues night at the St Louis Zoo

I just love Christmas lights so when Blues season ticket holders got invited to the Wild Lights at the Zoo, we jumped on the opportunity.

This night is closed to the public.
There's opportunities to meet the players, attend discussions, try the Christmas specialty drinks, kids crafts and explore the zoo.

It's a very fun night. Luckily the weather cooperated and the rain held off.

Now if could just get them to win games, it'll be a great end to the year!

Cosmic Sleigh Ride - World of Illumination

We love holiday lights and were super excited to kick off the season at the new World of Illumination drive thru experience at Six Flags!

You set your station to the preset and drive off through the millions of twinkling lights.

The music was great, some if the artists versions I hadn't heard yet.

If you go on the weekends, you get a little perk of being able to park and go in the front of Six Flags to mingle with the characters, sit with a firepit, take pictures and buy treats.

Such a fun, new experience that has hit our city. Check it out if you get a chance!

Aruba is my happy place!

One of the best things I've done this year was take the week of Thanksgiving off and spent the holiday in Aruba!

We went June of last year and we all loved it so much that we went again...and I won't be mad when we go again...and again!

Once you go, you know!

We had 22 of us go and we all did different stuff, some stuff together and stuff apart. There were no expectations and I didn't realize how much I needed to get away until I was in the air.

Highlights include:
- jeep rental to drive around island
- jolly Pirates snorkel cruise
- resort hosted Thanksgiving dinner
- new dessert shop at rBinion!
- black Friday aruba style
- eating fresh seafood that I watched be caught
- visiting the donkey sanctuary

I miss it terribly and cannot wait to visit again!

Until next time, bon bini!

2: WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT:
We just got home from celebrating Thanksgiving in Aruba!  This island has quickly become one of our favorites, we've been there 2 years in a row.  Once you go, you know!  It was a much needed getaway!

3: WHAT I'M LOVING:
We started our Christmas celebrations on Sunday with friends and its really starting to get me into the Christmas spirit.  We have some kind of holiday event every week leading up to Christmas eve and I'm all for it!

4: WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO:
This month we did our yearly friends Mizzou football game, saw Frozen at the Fox theater, started our family Yellowstone watch parties, and spent Thanksgiving in Aruba.  Busy busy!

5: WHAT I'M DREADING:
There are some big changes happening at work and I'm dreading what extra work it is going to put on our shoulders.  It shouldn't but that's how this school runs.  We are supposed to have a Christmas play in 20ish days and I'm hoping that all will turn out.  We will see!

6: WHAT I'M WORKING ON:

Honestly everything Christmas!

We are going to Big Cedar/Branson next week for their Christmas celebrations - cannot wait!

I'm starting all the Christmas books and catching up on Yellowstone.  Couldn't watch it in Aruba.  I also caught a great Black Friday deal with Peacock so I'm excited to start watching my Bravo shows again.

9: WHAT I'M LISTENING TO:
kids...always!

10: WHAT I'M WEARING:
Cold weather is moving in so nowadays its long sleeve something, jeans and tennis shoes.  I do love my leggings and long shirts for work as well.

11: WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Going to the chapel and marrying off a friend I use to babysit for.  That will take up all our Saturday.  Otherwise just odds and ends.

12: WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
so much fun with the people I love the most!!

13: FAVORITE BLACK FRIDAY/AMAZON FIND:
Peacock had an offer of $1.00 a month for 12 months - score!  Time to get caught up on all things Bravo! ;)

Have a great December everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

 Happy Gobble Gobble Day everyone!

This is the 2nd year in a row that we are celebrating the holiday non-traditionally and I'm all for it.

I truly didn't know how much I needed this vacation and time away until I landed.

You should try it, you might like it.
Honestly I think this is how this holiday will be celebrated for futures to come.

We did it non-traditionally last year with just ourselves and this year my entire family came.

The resort is providing a traditional meal so we will partake in that later today.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🦃

A random snow + wine day!

On Saturday my area of St Louis woke up to this:

I wasn't expecting it.
The weather maps showed it as a possibility elsewhere.
Areas west of me didn't get it.
Areas south did.
And my first thought was darn it, I don't have the patio set put away yet...because we were just in the 80s.

So it was an unexpected run errands yet relax kind of day.

Perfect for a random night of Robert Mondavi wine with friends.

It's no secret that we love wine.

A perfect day for us is sitting at a winery with a live band.

So when I was given the chance to explore the various wines of this brand I jumped in it.

It's great to have friends who love wine too!

Find you some friends who are ready for a bottle anytime.

Thanks to @ripplestreet for the chat pack. All posts and ideas are my own.

Frozen at the Fox

If you know me, you know that I have a special place in my heart for Disney.

So when Frozen was announced at the Fox, of course my sister and I jumped on the chance. We always see the Disney ones together and she decided that since the twins love it as well that it would be their first show.

It was very magical!

The Fox always knocks it out of the park and nothing was left untouched. Keith is a Disney fan too and even he was amazed how they did the effects.

The twins did great, got a little antsy but they are 4, it's expected. We got seats right by the aisle and the railing so they could be up and about if needed.

One of my bucket list items is to see a Broadway play. Since I have yet to make it to New York, I love that we can get it here at the Fox.

Do you wanna build a snowman?

MIZ-ZOU!

This past weekend was our yearly friends road trip to Columbia to kick off November.

Was it cold...yes!
Did we lose...yes!
Did we have fun...always!

It was cold and cloudy most of the game until the 3rd quarter and we started seeing the sun.

It was a close game that we would have won if it weren't for a stupid call by the ref. It made national news.

After the game we trekked over to Shakespeare's Pizza for dinner. Can't go to Columbia and not have it.

May the tradition live on...see ya next time in 2023 Mizzou! 🏈
