What's Up Wednesday?!?!

August is almost over...what?!?!

I've been busy.  Plain and simple.

1) What we're eating this week:
Sun - fish
Mon - chicken potstickers
Tues - buffalo chicken wraps
Wed - homemade pizza
Thurs - chicken sausage and quinoa
Fri - out
Sat - not sure yet

2) What I'm reminiscing about:
Always and forever Aruba!  We went at the perfect time in June because countries are shutting down again and I'm so glad we got to go.

3) What I'm loving:
my new job
Super excited to see what is going to happen!

4) What we've been up to:
honestly, just relaxing!  Planning upcoming vacations but weekends are for sleep now.

5) What I'm dreading:
nothing at the moment

6) What I'm working on:
lesson plans
winery dates
vacations

7) What I'm excited about:
fall weather!  I'm over the 100 degree temps here in Missouri.  Its so old now!

8) What I'm watching/reading:
Yellowstone!  I jumped on the bandwagon, binge watched all 3 seasons and cannot wait until season 4 comes out this fall.

9) What I'm listening to:
not much lately.  I'm not in the car much anymore.  Usually whatever playlists are on tap at boot camp.

10) What I'm wearing:
I can wear whatever I'm comfortable in now.  So lot more variety with this job.

11) What I'm doing this weekend?
Going to see "On Your Feet" at the Muny for date night, then river day Saturday and nothing Sunday...for now.

12) What I'm looking forward to:

I hope everyone is doing well! :)

K&J Summer Adventure Pt 2 - one happy island!

After our layover in Baltimore/DC (check that out here if you missed it) we boarded a plane bright and early Sunday morning, and 4 hours later found ourselves in Aruba!

This trip almost didn't happen.  In fact we weren't supposed to go the first 2 times it had been scheduled but 3rd time we got asked if we wanted to go and of course we couldn't pass the opportunity up.

We spent 7 glorious days in paradise.  The locals call it "One Happy Island" and it truly is!

Our resort, La Cabana, was on Eagle Beach, which is rated as one of the best beaches in the world.  The sand is the softest white you'll ever see, and the waters were the bluest of blue.  The wind constantly blew so there was a breeze and it was actually cooler there than in St Louis all week.  We spent 7 glorious no agenda days there and it was perfect, much needed and literally lifted our spirits.

The island is only 19 miles wide/long so its easy to get around and see everything.  Everything is walkable if you wished also.  We ate breakfast & lunch at our condo then went out each night for dinner.  Their cuisine is to die for, and everything is made fresh.

While we spent most of the days relaxing on the beach and the pool, we did explore quite a bit:

~ downtown area where the cruise ships dock (those are some massive ships when up close)
~ shopping in the Renaissance area
~ walking the paths around our area
~ parasailing
~ catamaran snorkeling adventure
~ jeep adventure at the National Park
~ Baby Beach exploration
~ famous Divi tree (sideways trees due to wind always blowing)
~ flamingo island (my sister went, we did not, we will next time)
~ workouts in the huge recreation center at the resort
~ aloe tours
~ rum tastings

For those wondering, Aruba is at 70% herd immunity.  If you're one that views it via safety, technically its safer there than in the USA.  We had to test to go, test to come home then I had to test again to go back to work.  They encourage it, they want visitors as that's what fuels their island.  No one argued masks being worn inside everywhere there and they didn't care if they were on or off when outside establishments.

I almost didn't go.
I'm really glad I didn't let my work bully me into not going.

We needed it...and we will for sure go back!

Aruba, thank you for allowing us to visit!

It's August!

Why hello August - how are you here already?

Life's been busy!

Just to play catch up...

~*~ I put my 2 weeks in at the bank and start my new job today back in education.  I am super excited and nervous at the same time.

~*~ I've jumped on the "Yellowstone" bandwagon and I'm hooked.  The rest of my family watches it and is planning watch parties in the fall so I got a lot of catching up to do.

~*~ We got our new bedroom furniture delivered on Thursday.  Totally makes us feel like adults now as everything in the room matches.  Just need a pop of color in a new bedspread, some new drapes and maybe a new coat of paint one day.  This also means everything in our house is ours now, we have nothing from anyone else here and its a great feeling!

~*~ We went to a swimming party for my little cousin and now I want to get a swimming pass as I miss it.  I use to swim all the time and we had a pool at the condo.  Gotta start researching!

Have a great week!
