What's Up Wednesday

It's the first What's Up Wednesday linkup of 2020.

1. What we're eating this week:
Sun - tacos
Mon - coconut shrimp & asparagus
Tues - flatout pizza
Wed - blackened pepper chicken
Thurs - sausage & brown rice
Fri - girls night
Sat - out

2. What I'm reminiscing about:
Our trip to Vegas 2 weekends ago. Life truly passes fast because we planned that trip awhile ago and it snuck up on us.

3. What I'm loving:
A friend of mine left teaching to become a personal trainer. She was posting so much about it that I checked out the free sessions and fell in love. I was informed one was opening by my house so I started at their pop-up camps, did 30 free days and now we are founding members. No workout is the same and they kick your butt!

4. What we've been up to:
boot camps, spinning, trip to Vegas and the hockey all star festivities.

5. What I'm dreading:
More cold! Don't get my wrong, I love winter, snow, skiing, everything. Missouri weather has been blah, we need some sunshine!

6. What I'm working on:
a little bit of everything!  Right now I have a superbowl party to plan!

7. What I'm excited about:

This is happening this year - eek!

8. What I'm watching/reading:
You'll have to visit in 2 Tuesdays for my monthly book review and I'm currently watching Pete the Pilot get overtaken by these women.  I like Peter, these women not so much!  I still think Hannah comes back in the end...

9. What I'm listening to:
the sound of water boiling currently

10. What I'm wearing:
So for Vegas I bought 2 new outfits however it was COLD at night and I had to substitute.  So I'm keeping the outfits for the future...I think!  They are cute and would totally work for things we have coming up.

11. What I'm doing this weekend:
Friday is our monthly Girls Night in
Saturday is Blues game watching with friends
Sunday is Superbowl at our house!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month:
Hmmm nothing set in stone yet.

Nada!

What's up with you?!?!
Happy Wednesday!

Viva Las Vegas!

Where in the world did I go last weekend?
If you guessed Vegas, you win!

I left bright & early Friday morning and was in 50° weather by 9am! It was a siblings/spouses trip to celebrate my sister turning 30. Once we arrived in Vegas, we rented a car to see Hoover Dam for the first time.

It was pretty & such a sight to see! We then continued on into Vegas to check into our resort and get ready to head out for the night. We spent most of the evening at Fremont Street which is something I recommend everyone check out at some point.  We got drinks from The D then ate at Heart Attack Grill.

We weren't quite ready to call it a night so arrived on the strip just in time to see the Bellagio fountain show...love it!

Saturday started out with brunch at Wicked Spoon inside the Cosmopolitan...delicious! We then walked the strip all day, checking out all the shopping, hotels and the conservatory at the Bellagio.

Headed back out that night, dinner at Wahlburgers, and ended my sisters weekend on a high note...until we got home and had the issues with AAA (which is over now...finally...I'll post about the ending this week!)

As you all know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

It was a great trip to start out 2020. Counting down the days until our next vacation (47)!

Cheers!

AAA is not as helpful as one would think!

Do you have AAA?

I do.  I've had it my entire life starting with my parents. Then when I started driving I got it as a sense of calm in case I needed roadside assistance.

I'm seriously rethinking now that its day 3 of what I'm calling AAA-gate.

We left my car at the parking spot at the airport (that post on our trip is coming after this debacle is over). No big deal, have done it before. Yes weather hit in some forms while gone and cars get cold. The last thing you want is for it to not start when its 18° degrees out.  It would not start. Only lights left on per day were the auto headlights but they turned off when I locked the car.

My bro in law looks at it, says to get a jump from the attendants. They jump us, it starts, no issues going home. He says call AAA the next day as I need a new battery and they replaced it last time.

Call Monday am, they say a tech will be out in an hour...that turned into 4 hrs. Tech arrives and says if the car started we should have never called (I tried it once, it hesitated on its start but started). He runs a test, says battery is fine & dandy. Isnt happy that we had a jump instead of calling them first as and leaves.

Tuesday I got it to start, got it to work but it had no pickup on highway. Had someone stay to jump if it wouldnt start again and it hesitated again but started. Keith decides to take it to Auto Zone since tech said we should just get battery tests before calling again.

It died in the parking lot.

We call AAA...again...said itll be an hour. Did not show up until midnight, we sat in 28° weather for 4 hrs. I talked to a supervisor and explained that this is not acceptable. They all are confused on why the original tech said what he did. I'm like just get me safe. Got the car charged and now its sitting battery-less in my driveway.

All because they dont want to honor the warranty on their batteries.

I should have just had auto zone replace it. But theres a warranty and they need to know they are in the wrong. I've been googling it, apparently this stuff has happened a lot.

They are coming supposedly with the new battery today.  After that, bye Felicia because thankfully I wasn't stranded on the side of the road.

Welcome to AAA-gate.
Its ridiculous.
I'm over it.
I'll just call 911 next time.

Where in the USA am I?!?

Image result for i do believe its time for another adventure

This Friday 5 is brought to you by the friendly skies as we are off on our first adventure of 2020.

Where in the world am I going?
Let's see who can guess!

1) It is a 3 hour 40 minute flight from St. Louis.
2) I will fly over 3 states.
3) It's a sin if you never visit here at least once in your life.
4) It is a hockey town and almost a football town.
5) The odds are in my favor that I have been here once before.

Leave your guesses and you'll find out next week if you're correct...
,,,or if you follow me on Facebook/Instagram you'll probably find out sooner!

Cheers to the weekend!

December books

Life According to Steph

Another year of Show Us Your Books starts today...I'm excited!

I read a total of 82 books in 2019.  I'm aiming for 85 in 2020.
I'm off to a good start so I think I can do it.

These are the books I read in December:

⭐⭐⭐
I'm a "read the books in order" gal and this is book 3 of 4 books.  I honestly wasn't too into this one.  It all still flowed but I felt bored a bit.  The 4th book is on request at the library so I'm excited to see how the stories end.

I really enjoyed this book.  Its set in Aspen so that could be why too but it shows how a family comes together for an event even though their personal lives are all chaos.  Its a good read that I really recommend.

Another great read that I could not put down.  A fantastic story about motherhood and how relationships with your children are about forgiving and accepting.

⭐⭐⭐
So this is one that has gotten a lot of hype all over the internet and I honestly wasn't that impressed with it.  I enjoyed it, it was sweet and touched a lot of issues that go on in life today, it just took me some time to make it through it.

What did you read in December?

Let's be friends on Goodreads!

Happy reading!
