Friday Five - Who needs trees anyway?!?!?

Image result for its friday

I promise I haven't disappeared from the blog world.  Its been busy busy around here and I'm posting when I can!

Who needs trees anyway?!?
Imagine working from home and you hear noises and look outside and see your front tree being cut down without your knowledge.  What would you do?!?!  This happened to Keith & I last Tuesday and I've been in a battle with the county for not informing us of this happening.  They swear they sent us a letter back in MARCH about our option of having them removed to fix the sidewalk.  The one without the logs was a perfectly fine tree; the other was dead so that would have had to go anyway.  But apparently I could have said no but because the county sucks at communication I do not have 2 front trees anymore.  The guy is like "what can I do to better this in the future?"  Uh follow up with the houses you supposedly left the letter at to see if they got it (insert eyeroll).

Yield?!?  What's a yield sign?
Then the next day, I'm headed to work and got rear-ended yielding to oncoming traffic.  I am not hurt...my car is another story.  I tell you I'm a magnet for accidents that I do not cause as this is the 3rd one its been in.  The 20-something was like "you could have gone" and I said you don't usually drive out into oncoming traffic.  The impact was hard enough to whip me forward but I braced myself on the wheel and no airbags came out.  Car is slated to be fixed in October and the estimated cost isn't pretty but he's got insurance so that's all that matters!

Twin Shenanigans!

If you follow me on any of my other social media outlets, you know that I have dubbed my time with my twin nieces as shenanigans time.  I love those 2 so much and they always smile when I walk into the room or they hear my voice and they can't see me yet.  I cannot believe they are 17 months already.  We have 2 sleepovers coming up in October and we are the only ones they've ever spent the night with before.  Aunties are the best!

Time to win the cup again!

I cannot believe that its time for another season of Blues hockey!  We seriously didn't get done with festivities for the big win until the end of June and the opener is Wed!  They said they won't be playing Gloria anymore as they want a new song to come out to the team but I hope they do play it when they raise the banner on opening night.  Let's win it again boys!

October!

October is my favorite month and we have a lot of fun planned for the month that its going to go by too fast!  I do hope to post more so don't disappear on me!

August books review!

Life According to Steph

Its Show us your books day!

I read 7 books in August.  2 were eh, 1 was okay, the rest pretty good!

★★
This book was interesting.  I didn't get as wrapped up in the plot like I was hoping and I got bored in the middle and found myself skipping ahead to try to finish it.  Guy meets girl...girl ignores guy...guy gets infatuated with girl...finds out a mystery about said girl and becomes even more involved.

★★★★★
I loved this book.  I wanted to be friends with Kristen & Josh, that's how much I enjoyed it.  Kristen is hiding a secret that is stopping her from being in a committed relationship.  She realizes as she gets to know Josh that he truly is the whole package.  You'll be rooting for them to overcome the obstacles.

★★
I had seen this book floating around the internet and I was disappointed once I got my hands on it.  Think the Biggest Loser.  I slowly made my way through this book, it got interesting at times but overall not the best.

★★★★
This is a must read, companion book to "Class Mom", if you're a teacher, former teacher, parent, etc.  I loved the first book and I laughed a lot at this book.  I'd love for there to be more in this series.

★★★
Nina is a quiet person who lives her life among books.  She believes there's nothing else in life except for reading.  She soon finds out that her family life isn't what she was told growing up and she suddenly has to become more social.  She eventually comes out of her shell and learns to turn to a fresh page.  I love books and enjoyed this book - and wish I could be a librarian at times!

★★★★★
What is it with books that are set in Nantucket?  I just love them and I really enjoyed this book.  Keely and Isabelle have always dreamed about being writers.  Each one comes from a different family life and wishes they had the other's.  They start coming at odds with one another as they get older.  It takes a few major life happenings to make them realize that friends are forever.

★★★★★
Madison has loved, and lost, many times in her life.  She never got closure from the relationships and realizes she needs that.  She rents a car and decides to go cross country to get closure on the past.  With each encounter, and closure she endures, she realizes what her new future will hold.  I loved loved this book and highly recommend it.  Sometimes all you need is an open road!

Happy reading!
