STL Heart Walk 2019

Image result for stl heart walk 2019

Last weekend we participated in a 3 mile walk in honor of my warrior niece Carrie.

I don't talk about my extended family too much on here due to privacy but Carrie had surgery a year ago to fix a vascular ring and a VSD.  She truly is a warrior and we all were very honored to walk with her.

It started at Busch stadium, went around downtown for 3 miles then we got to do a lap inside the stadium.  It was fun and we even made the board as you see above.

My sister's company is one of the main sponsors so it was fun to see everyone who truly gives a piece of their heart.  Listening to some of the stories we heard and participating in the other things there was a great learning experience.

Can't wait to continue our tradition next year!

April books!

Life According to Steph

Hey hey hey its May...time to show your books!

I read a lot this past month.  I'm not sure how but I have been taking one to work with me instead of being on my phone when there's down time (the life of a banker) so maybe that's why.  I had a lot that I loved and a few that were so-so.

This is the 2nd book in the series and you do need to read the 1st one before this one (titled "Slightly South of Simple".  This book shows that siblings never give up on you, no matter how much you've given up on yourself.  Love always finds a way!

This was an interesting read.  Marnie is left as a beneficiary to someone's will that she's known only a few weeks.  She learns love is hard to recognize, and the ones who push love away are the ones who need it the most.

If you're a hockey fan, this is a must read.  Cujo is by far one of the best goalies the NHL has ever seen and he spent many years on the Blues.

I had high hopes for this book and unfortunately I just couldn't get into it.  I tried hard and on several occasions but it just didn't happen.

I use to not be a DS fan but within the last year or 2 I've really been pulled into her books.  4 trauma doctors, the best and the brightest in their fields, are all put on a team to work with a team in Paris in a mass casualty training program.  They grow as individuals and gain knowledge that will help them in their field.  I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the new DS books that are headed our way.

Is there really a such thing as one true love?  Emma's husband goes missing and she meets someone from her past who helps her move on with her life.  However her husband is found, alive, and Emma has to figure out which one she has to be with.  The ending will surprise you and you will enjoy this book!

3 sisters all got dumped in the same week.  Side by side the 3 start their lives over and realize just how important the other is to them.  Such a good book!

This book was a so-so.  I started it, then found myself flipping through it just to finish it.  It seemed to go on and on about the most random stuff.  The ending is sweet but wasn't my favorite.

I really enjoyed this book.  There's a particular page that stood out to me the best and really rings true:
"Someone once told me that you have two families in your life - the one you are born into and the one you choose. Yes, you may get to choose your partner, but you don't choose your mother-in-law. The cackling mercenaries of fate determine it all."
If you've been following me for awhile, you know that the above rings true with my family and this book hit the nail on the target with everything.  I really recommend this book, you must check it out!
