May book review

May was a busy busy month of reading for me hence why it's taken forever to get this review posted.  Better late than never!

5 stars
I could not put this book down!  It hard me from start to finish. It shows you to appreciate those people who are akalwa watching out.

2 stars
This is book #2 in a 2 book series and I didn't like this as much as I liked the first book.

2 stars
This book wasn't very interesting to me. I gave it a few shots because all the other reviews raved about it. I finished it only because I flipped through pages at a time.

5 stars
This book also grabbed my attention and kept it throughout. Sisters are until the end, through thick and thin and this book shows that bond.

4 stars
I use to not be a DS fan but lately her books have been pulling me in.  This book is about lude not always going the way one expects it to and you have to be ready to roll with whatever it throws your way.

5 stars
A great story that's uplifting, powerful and full of love.

Check out my Goodreads list.

What are you reading?

A fitness filled weekend!

Happy Monday...happy 2 day work week to me!!

This weekend was very low key and just what the doctor ordered.  Friday night we babysat the twins.  It was fun and tons of work but their smiles are worth it.  Let's say it takes 2 to take care of 2!

Saturday we woke up early to go to a boot class at Burn Boot Camp.  A friend of mine recently left teaching to pursue her career in personal training and had been talking about this place forever.  They do free boot camps every Saturday at 830 and 930 so we jumped at the chance once we had a free Saturday.  It kicked our butts but was totally fun and we will definitely be back!

After a few errands, and the boot camp, we had worked up an appetite and decided to grab brunch at The Shack.  Uhh delicious and I think we have a new brunch spot.  The rest of the day was just stuff around the house.

Sunday we had gotten invited to try Orange Theory.
We know a lot of people who swear by this new craze so we were curious.  It's broken up into 3 catergories - cardio, weights, strength.  I didn't mind it but I enjoy the freedom of more choices and class choices.  They track you on a board using a heart rate monitor and the whole point is to be at a certain color.  It, too, kicked my butt and I learned not to do that intense of workouts back to back.

The rest of Sunday was around the house until I had to be at church for the start of Vacation Bible School.

Can't believe weekend is over but vacation is on the horizon. Have a great week!

Meet Us at the Muny - The Wiz

Our Muny night was a day early for us since we have a commitment tonight. That's a positive about season tickets with them...you can exchange them whenever needed!

We started out with dinner/happy hour at Bar Louie. Totally forgot that Kirkwood does their concert series on Thursday nights so we were able to catch some live music before getting out to Forest Park.

The weather was absolutely perfect!  Rain had cooled it down and there was a breeze. The show itself was very entertaining.  It's an adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz" but none of their songs are used.  Plenty of other familiar show icons pop up but nothing like the original.

Next week is Singin' in the Rain...but you won't be able to meet us there as we are on vacation. So meet us in 2 weeks for Jersey Boys!

Walked out the door for the last time

6 years ago I was in an awkward position in life. Was still trying the classroom thing but needed something else. My sister was a supervisor at the Sheraton and suggested I apply for a PT position they had available.

I did.

I got it.

Yesterday I finally said goodbye.

The first 3 years were great. Then upper management started changing and it all went downhill...and is still going downhill. The ppl who were hired had one goal and they only have 2 more ppl to oust before they reach said goal.  The clientele isn't what it use to be, it's not safe and it's just all around bad. There's a lot more to this story. Message me if you want to know more.

The straw that broke the camel's back had been thinning out for awhile.  People were leaving left & right.  There's been no support.  People who had been there a day were getting priority over those there for years. I've been bullied and lied to for awhile, more so since 2018 started. Finally, when my vacation request was denied yet others were going on theirs, I had had enough.

Silly me for thinking the front desk manager, who is the root of all this, would be there to wish me luck, say thanks, appreciate the work I did.  Nope.  He couldn't show face.  He technically didn't acknowkedge I put in my notice. HR lady didn't contact me to confirm my resignation so no exit interview.  She doesn't do them bc she can't handle the truth she'd receive. I briefly spoke with the general manager last weekend about it all.  I know the FDM & HR think they've won because I'm gone.

In reality I won because I don't have to deal with them anymore.  I learned a lot and have made friends that I know will stay in touch. I believe in karma and I'm going to enjoy a drink while I watch the show.

Cheers!

Meet Us at the Muny - Jerome Robbins Broadway

Friday night was the start of our season tickets for the Muny.

I took over the tickets from the family eons ago and I can't picture not having them.  It's a guaranteed date night each week in the summer.

We started our night out with dinner at Weber's 8713 Grill & Tap before making our way to Forest Park.

The heat wasn't as hot as it had been during the day so that was a huge relief.

The show itself was just okay. I had heard different things from different people who had seen it earlier in the week and told Keith I didn't have high expectations. The best part was Peter Pan, and once Monotony performed, I could tell we were over it and we left.  After seeing some of the other reviews from other people who went, they agreed.

Meet us at the Muny next week for The Wiz!

Friday Five (big update)

Yay yay it's Friday!!

1) Hot hot hot
So summer has officially arrived in St. Louis. The heat is ridiculous.  We are under a heat advisory until Monday. It may throw a wrench into some plans but that's what AC is for!!

2) 100th Muny season
Our season tickets to the Muny start tonight. It's the 100th season and they've got a great lineup. Keith enjoys the plays but not with heat. We will see how long he lasts.

3) Father's Day
Our yearly dad's day bbq is Saturday. Location is changing to my house this year due to my sister's babies arriving. We have about 20 ppl coming. Sunday is lunch with Keith's dad, assuming they aren't jet lagged from their trip to Spain. All should be fun!

4) Clothes shopping
I am in terrible terrible need of new clothes. I feel that I have zero work clothes and wear the same all the time. I'm hoping when in vacation I'll catch some good deals!

5) Quote of week
This is true with a current situation and this Monday will be my last at the hotel. I've been there 6 years and the past 3 have been unpleasant in the upper departments.  I've been lied to & disrespected too many times. Not approving my time off, that I put in over a month ago, was my last straw. You can't tell ppl you aren't approving theirs then take off whenever you want, and allow others. Theyve been trying hard to get me out of there so they may think they've won but they haven't. I truly believe in karma.

Have a great weekend!!

Weekend Wrap-up

How is it Monday already?!?

Friday night was my late night at work so we met up for date night at Faratto's down the street. Delicious!  I had heard that I needed to try several things so we split a pizza, salad, & toasted ravioli.  All made in house, all yummy. I highly suggest if you've never been and are looking for something new!

Saturday was supposed to be pool day but mother nature had different plans. So after work we ran some errands then just did whatever at home. That night we saw the movie Hereditary.  I'm not a huge fan of horror but I wanted to see it and it was good. Keith likes it all and loved it but I felt I had seen something similar before.

Sunday came way too fast but I headed to work with a decision that was a long time coming (more on it later). Then we finally got our pool day in!!  Perfect weather for it. Then headed home for dinner and to try my new air fryer out. I love it and can't wait to try other stuff in it.

Best part of the weekend...I didnt take a single pic and relaxed!!

I got more blogging to come so stay tuned!
