The Blues...made us blue!

Friday night, as a part of our season tickets, we got the Blues & Blackhawks playoff Game 5.

Keith was a nervous nelly.

It was an exciting and tense game.

The Blues played good, it was tied and we went into overtime.

However the Blackhawks scored within seconds of OT starting.  Keith got tears in his eyes.  We left with all the other somber fans.  I kid you not, its usually not that quiet in St. Louis after a hockey game.

Like normal we get home and he goes straight to the forums to see what happened.  He gets himself ready for Game 6 on Sunday, which was in Chicago.

We decided to go eat at Buffalo Wild Wings to catch the game on the big screen.  Keith starts shaking, he's so nervous.  He makes it through period 1 and decides we should go home because he can't watch the rest.

We get home...and Ryan Miller lets in 4 more goals.

Needless to say, good thing the TV wasn't a real person.

Our goalie, Miller, won't do post game interviews when the Blues lose.  Most likely because he's embarrassed and doesn't have anything to explain why.  Well, he did a 5 minute one yesterday and all he said was, "well I can now go to my sister's wedding." :/

Good luck Miller, as the Blues most likely won't sign you.  Not sure who is going to sign you if you can't make it through the first round of the playoffs.  You didn't shine like you did with your old team.

Good luck to Chicago on advancing to the next round.  However we will be cheering for the Colorado Avalanche.  Keith has his jersey ready.

There's always next year!

I'm alive...kinda!

Who needs an extra day in their weekend!

This girl right here...especially since her new manager at her PT job decided that I didn't need sleep or down time to relax this weekend and scheduled me on my days off.

I'm not a happy cookie!

I've gotten no sleep.  I had a pretty good weekend, despite having to get up at 5:30 the entire week AND weekend and won't get any sleep until Saturday...assuming she doesn't put me on again.  When I questioned her about it, she told me I am no longer guaranteed days off.  So I went a step higher than her, and talked to the General Manager about it because I cannot get sick, its about to be May, crazy crazy.  However if I do get sick, I know who I can blame.

The Blues are out of the playoffs.  I'm bummed but happy about it - I'll share why later this week.

Here's to a great week!!

Thirteen Reasons Why

This week I'm reviewing:

Goodreads says:
Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier.
On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list.
Through Hannah and Clay's dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers.
I say:
This book had been on my GR shelf for awhile, in fact it was one of the first ones I added when I joined and I forgot about so I have been trying to go back and get those books.  Anywho it was an interesting read that revolves around a group of kids who had a girl commit suicide.  It takes you through a series of audio tapes and you "listen" to her tell certain people why they are to blame and what role they played in why she made the decision she did.  I did flip a few pages when I got tired of it going on and on but over all it wasn't a bad book.  Supposedly there is a movie and now I'm off to see how I can get my hands on it.

I gave it 3 stars on my Goodreads list.

Easter Eggstravaganzas!

I hope everyone had a great Easter!

I luckily got the day off from my PT work.  I had requested it awhile ago so I could go to church.  On a different note for a minute, I use Foursquare pretty religiously and yesterday I realized just how glad I am that I do it because it proved my point - I don't get to go to church as often as I would like.  The last time I was at church was Christmas Eve (this will be a totally different post soon).  Anywho we met up with my Dad, my sister, brother and his girls for a great service:

After that Keith and I made our home at Panera for a little snack and ice tea before going to his sister's for his niece's 2nd birthday.  Just so one is aware - her birthday is not until May, why they celebrated it on Easter I have no clue.  It was like she was stripped of a birthday.  It just made it harder on us because they live nowhere near where we were and where we were supposed to be for my family's Easter.  But we made it there and helped celebrate her 2 years of life:

As soon as Keith was ready we hightailed it to my parents house for the tail end of their Easter celebration. We were supposed to be their earlier but my MIL was giving Keith problems for leaving so we stayed longer than we had planned at the above, which meant missing everything at my family.  My mini me made up for it though - she set up an easter egg hunt for Keith and I to do with her and we had fun relaxing with those who did stay for us and of course letting Keith catch up on his hockey that was live on NBC:

It was a crazy fun filled day!

Happy Easter everyone!

I'm a 5th grader!

Yay I'm a 5th grader again!

In case you didn't catch a few of my posts, I was asked to take a long term position until the end of the year.  This being said, I'm finally in my "own" classroom again after 3 1/2 years.

I hope it stays!

The school and team I am on is great.  They are a great family and they have already welcomed me with open arms.  I had been subbing there for another teacher who was out with an illness with her daughter until this teacher had her baby.  Well the two of us were talking, she said it felt weird that day (I think the baby had finally dropped) and before I knew it, I got a text from the principal while in class telling me that the water broke.

So I slid into the other room the next day.

We are in the midst of MAP testing.  So on Thursday, the day I became their teacher, it was quite a day.  We had MAP in the morning, then two birthdays to celebrate in the middle of finding out that the mini baby (as the class called it) was born a boy and they were all in love.

Luckily we have 4 days off that I can get a feel for planning and get a kick start of what's going on.

The great news?  I am now considered fully internal for this district that I have been subbing for, for 2 years now.  I got email, I got everything and I hope that this leads me into something for the fall.

So please keep fingers crossed, and those wishes coming, that this all turns out great.

Yay!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone!

Hope its full of love, laughter, family, friends - whatever makes your day special.

Chose the Wrong Guy, Gave him the Wrong Finger!

This week I'm reviewing:

Goodreads says:
Ten years ago, Quinn Barton was on her way to the altar to marry Burke Morrison, her high school sweetheart, when something derailed her. Rather, someone derailed her—the Best Man who at the last minute begged her to reconsider the marriage. He told her that Burke had been cheating on her. For a long time. Quinn, stunned, hurt, and confused, struggled with the obligation of fulfilling her guests’ expectations—providing a wedding—and running for her life.

She chose running. With the Best Man. Who happened to be Burke’s brother, Frank.

That relationship didn’t work either. How could it, when Quinn had been engaged to, in love with, Frank’s brother? Quinn opted for neither, and, instead, spends the next seventeen years working in her family’s Middleburg, Virginia, bridal shop, Talk of the Gown, where she subconsciously does penance for the disservice she did to marriage.

But when the two men return to town for another wedding, old anger, hurt, and passion resurface. Just because you’ve traded the good guy for the bad guy for no guy doesn’t mean you have to stay away from love for the rest of your life, does it?

I say:
Of course when I saw the title, and saw that it was recommended, I wanted to read it.  However I just could not get into it.  I kept having to renew it at the library because once I start a book, I do my best to finish it.  However I felt this one kept dragging on and on.  There were just too many breaks between storylines and thoughts.  The best part of the book is when her friend gives her tasks to complete on a daily basis because he knows this girl needs motivation in life and to live her life more.  That's really it.  I was bummed that I didn't like it as much as the title led me on!

I gave it 2 stars on my Goodreads list.

Cardinals Ballpark Village

After Saturday's loss at the Blues game, we decided to take a walk down to the new Cardinals Ballpark Village:

This village has been in the works forever, ever since they tore down the original Busch Stadium and built the new one next store it had been a pile of rubble for years.  Finally this year they got the ball rolling and opened it a week before this past Monday, which was opening day:

BPV is the first sports anchored multi use development.  Eventually more will be added, along with office space and residential space.  I'm excited for it to be downtown, because it will make the city come alive even more.

Our goal was to eat at the Budweiser Brew House.  We got our name added to the list and were told it would be about 45 min and they would call/text when our table was ready.  That gave us enough time to walk around and see everything this establishment has to offer:

Well needless to say its now Wednesday and we still haven't gotten a phone call that our reservation is ready!  We ended up leaving before they were to call anyway, after we enjoyed a beer, because we got another idea in our heads to explore while downtown and wanted to go there instead.  So right now the only complaint I have about BPV is their reservation system.  Eventually they will be using OpenTable, which I love so maybe we'll head back when that's in use.

Our first Cardinals tickets are April 26th so we'll go play at BPV again then.

Go Cards!

Thursday Stuff & Things

Hey hey its Thursday!

~ this week has gone by sloooow!  I think a part of it is because I'm having to not take jobs because I'm waiting for my long term position to start and that depends on when the lady's baby decides to makes its appearance.

~ yes, I haven't shared yet but I got the long term position that I interviewed for!!  Thanks for all the positive thoughts!  I'm very excited to have my own class per say for the rest of the year.  Its 5th grade so it won't be the easiest grade but it will still allow me back in the room for at least a month and a half, maybe two, depending on when her baby arrives.  The principal has wanted me available since this past Monday so I'm afraid if I take other jobs, I'll have to cancel or she'll have the baby while I'm not available so its been catching up and enjoying the freedom that I have while I have it.

~ I really hope the above leads into something permanent for the fall.  When I interviewed the principal said I come highly recommended from the superintendent, which is the interview I had not too long ago.  So now I know that went well.  I have high hopes so keep those fingers crossed that this is my year!

~ If you didn't catch my post the other day, we did pick our vacation (finally) for this year.  We were about to book Southern Cali then Keith veered off course and found us an amazing deal to go to Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit.  I'm super excited - July, hurry up!

~ Found out that our newest niece, the one I posted about here, had her first surgery of many on Monday.  Guess which people weren't there during it - her parents!!  They thought that the Cardinals opening day game was more important than being there for their 2 week old baby during her first surgery.  I got so angry when Keith told me that.  They had asked my MIL to babysit the other two girls and she said no because she didn't agree that they weren't going to be there.  When baby #2 was born with this same problem, the children's hospital had called DFS on them because they were never up there learning how to care for their baby with needs - as my SIL put it then, she needed the break and had to give attention to baby #1.  I had no sympathy then because she had a plethora of people willing to watch the other so they could be there, learning how to care for their child to bring her home.  So if they get called on them again, I'm not going to have any sympathy yet again.  What if she hadn't of made it thru the surgery or something while they were at the game??  If that were my child, and I know I'm not a mother, you'd have to pry me away from the hospital just to go shower because I wouldn't leave my child alone.  I simply just don't get it!

I think that's it.  My mind is rambling but I'll post more next week.

Have a great Thursday!

Final Blues game of the season

Last Saturday Keith and I headed to Scottrade to see what I thought was my 2nd to last game of our season tickets:

It was a horrible game.  They lost, they didn't play their best.  I was on my phone a lot, and I usually only am on it when I'm bored and since cheering for Colorado wasn't in the cards, they were the ones scoring the goals.

Then they announced that this Sunday's game, the last game of the season and the last of our season tickets, was moved from 2pm to 1130am to be the game of the week.

Well guess who isn't off work until 1130am and now can't go?

Thank you Blues, thank you very much.

They did make it to the playoffs, we signed our commitment for tickets in Round 1.  Will they make it out of R1, who knows, I'd like them to but if they played like they did the other day, then they won't.

Its been a pretty good season - let's hope its a good post season as well!

Go Blues!

St. Louis Cardinals Opening Day

Happy opening day to fellow St. Louis Cardinals fans:

St. Louis tried hard to make it an official holiday but it just didn't happen.

I guarantee you, though, there will be no one at work from 12pm on in this city.  Good luck finding tickets, the cheapest currently is $105 and that's standing room.  Aye ye ye!

We have our first tickets on April 26th with my college alumni hosting a day at the park.  We'll probably get a few other pairs throughout the summer as well.

Baseball means warmer weather - bring it on - St. Louis is ready!!
