Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day to everyone!

To some, this kicks off BBQ, swimming pool and summer.  To others, its a moment to reflect about the past and the present.

For Keith and I, and about 300 others, we celebrated the wedding of Kelly and Brian yesterday.  It was a short, simple ceremony that led into a nice reception at the place we will be having our reception so that helped a lot to see what we want to make sure happens, etc.

But good luck and well wishes to the new couple - and cheers to us 4 below who were the life of the dance floor the entire night through:

Getting to know you!

 Happy Sunday everyone!
Today Keith and I have a wedding tonight for our friends Brian & Kelly.
Today also marks 2 months until Keith & I get married - yikes!!

Anywho here's my post for GTKY and I hope everyone has an awesome rest of the weekend!!

The Q's

1)  Would you rather go on a picnic or a BBQ?  BBQ - I just love the smell of a grill
2)  Would you rather go bra-less or panty-less?  I would have to say panty-less as my friends need support
3)  Would you rather go on a $5000 shopping spree at your favorite store or go on a $5000 vacation?  vacation because then I could travel to places I hadn't been to yet
4)  Would you rather eat escargot or sauteed crickets?  neither!!
5)  Would you rather go on Survivor or the Amazing Race?  Amazing Race, again so I could visit places I'd probably never have thought of before
6)  Would you rather be hot or cold?  in the middle
7)  Would you rather go to the beach or the lake?  lake, at least that way I could swim without salt going into my mouth
8)  Would you rather not shave your legs for a month in the summer or your armpits?  hmm probably my legs if I had to pick!

Friend's bachelorette party

Last weekend was quite the crazy weekend with parties - and its just going to keep getting crazier!

Friday night started with our monthly Girls Night In, where we decided to make my wedding favors.  Oh my was that such a big help, granted I ran out of supplies but I'm about 2/3rds of the way done.  Saturday night was party night for Keith and I.  Our friends Brian and Kelly are getting married tomorrow so Keith had Brian's Bachelor Party to go to at the Wicked Lady Pub and I had Kelly's Bachelorette Party to go to at Tony's on Main followed by the piano bar at Harrah's.  It was a fun night, not having been to Tony's in awhile and it being my first time at the piano bar (not counting the Jive & Wail for my bday).  I'm excited about their wedding as its at the same place we are having our reception at so it will give me ideas for when mine comes around!

Here's to happy wedding season:

School's Out for Summer!

Yay for summer break!
I technically only have a week off until summer school takes me up until 2 weeks before the wedding but its only 4 days a week, 3 hours a day, I think I can handle it.

First day of break:  wedding hair trial and lots of errands!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!!

Top 10 Summer Don'ts

Can I get a "yeah" for the last day of school??

Yeah!!

I've badly neglected this blog but since today is the last day of school I promise to do better.  So to get started on the right foot, I'm hooking up with Mama Kat for her Writer's Workshop - enjoy!

Mama's Losin' It

Top 10 Summer Don'ts:
10)  Don't complain about the heat...too much!  I'm a victim of this because Missouri is smack dab in the center of the USA and our weather is not "normal".  The heat is a part of life and yes you may have to run the AC to cool off...its life!  So either deal with it or fix it when you can.

9)  Don't wear a bikini unless you can pull it off...and if you can't pull it off and still wear one, expect looks and comments because that's just what the world does.

8)  Don't forget to stop by your local library.  Summer is the time of year for us teachers to catch up on those new books that are out and about.  So pick one up for the rainy days, the days at the pool and the car rides.

7)  Don't forget to take mini vacations around your city.  I'm sure there is something you haven't done before OR something you haven't done in a long time.

6)  Don't forget to go to at least one festival or fair.  They are always fun!

5)  Don't forget to savor the moment at the fireworks on 4th of July.  There's just something about them that gives you a good feeling.

4)  Don't forget your workout routine.  It may be summer but you can make sure to get a walk or run or something in.

3)  Don't forget to go on a picnic, fishing or a winery.  Just don't!

2)  Don't forget to invest in a good pair of sunglasses.  I can't wear them all the time due to regular glasses but I have my eyes on a pair I'd like.

and most importantly...

1)  Don't forget the sunscreen! ;)  Especially if you're getting married this summer because you don't want horrible tan lines!!

Getting to know you!

the q's.

1. what's your favorite rainy day activity?
Scrapbooking but haven't had time to do that activity in awhile

2. what time do you go to bed?
during the week I'm in bed by 11 due to school, weekends I don't have a set bedtime
3. how many magazines do you subscribe to?
I get a few, only 1 I pay for though, the rest were freebies
4. did you sell all your belongings because you thought the world was ending yesterday?
I honestly didn't know that the 21st was D-day until I saw people on FB posting about it so no I didn't...I probably wouldn't either!
5. what's your beauty obssesion?
Showering
6. if you could only wear one designer/brand for the rest of your life...what would it be?
NY & Company or Express
7. what's your summer must have?
usually a new bathing suit
8. do you make weekly dinner menus?
I try to!!  Do we stick to them, now that's another story!

Bridal Shower

My bridal shower was last Sunday and it was a blast!!

Of course St. Louis had to gift us with rain so luckily the event wasn't being held outside.  But it felt good to see all the people come who care about me (and Keith) and who only have good wishes for the future for us.

Major love and thank you goes out to everyone who did come because you mean the world to me and I had a blast and cannot wait until the wedding day to see everyone again:

Getting to know You

Happy Sunday!

I'm very excited about my bridal shower today.  I will write an entry about that sometime this week.

Until then...here's this week's Getting to Know You :)

the q's.
1. have you ever gone to see a movie by yourself?
I actually have not.  I almost did last week when I had gotten free tickets to see the new movie "Bridesmaids" because I wasn't going to make Keith go but his sister ended up wanting to go with me and that worked out just fine.  I may go a few times this summer alone when the free movies are at Wehrenberg for the kids as some of them I have not seen yet!

2. would you rather go through a tornado or a hurricane?
Neither!!  However I live in tornado alley so technically I'm picking tornadoes.

3. have you made summer vacation plans?
I'm getting married! :)  Those are the biggest plans I've ever made!

4. what's your favorite accessory (can't be jewelry)?
I would have to say my black tall hooker boots - there's just something about them that makes me feel good when I wear them.

5. have you ever been thrown a surprise party?
Yes, for Keith's 30th.  It went off without a hitch, everyone that came was happy to be there, there of course was drama afterwards but what can you expect, drama is all around.  I'll attempt it again in 10 years for his 40th.

6. are you friends with your neighbors?
ha, well define friends.  We are acquaintances because our neighbors are older and think that every problem is the cause of us because we are much younger so we usually only talk with a simple "hi" "bye", etc.

7. what's the last movie you saw in the theater?
Bridesmaids...I liked it!

8. what's your favorite food network show?
I only watch Food Network when I'm at my parents so whatever show is on at the time, that's the one

the end.

The blog is still here

Yay, blogger finally works!!

I had wanted to link up to a few of my favorites the past few days but blogger wasn't working, of course, when I had time to actually blog.  So then I started wondering if that meant it wasn't saveable but luckily its here.

And I'll have more to blog about later :)

Have a great weekend!!

Just a mini update...and new blog design!

Hey long time, no blog!

I've been quite the busy bee lately and honestly I do not see it slowing down now until after July 29th.  Once this wedding is over, I'm going to have so much time on my hands :)

Just to recap the past few days:
Thursday ~ Keith left for his bachelor party in New Orleans.
Friday ~ Lisa threw a cosmic bowling party for her husband's Justin's 30th birthday.  I had the best chocolate cake from Costco there...yum!!
Saturday ~ got up early to go to the airport to pick up my sister who flew in from Colorado for two weeks.  She got a job at the Stanley Hotel (think Redrum...aka the Shining) for the summer so she can't be here all the time but came in for my shower.  I spent the rest of the weekend at my parents since Keith was out of town.
Sunday ~ Happy Mother's Day ~ went to church then ate brunch at Rise & Dine in Wildwood then headed to the Tornado Alley Omnimax film at the Science Center, a BBQ for those family members who couldn't come out during the day then got home in time to welcome Keith back from his trip...he had a blast!!

Now that today is Wednesday, I can't wait for this upcoming weekend as my bridal shower is on Sunday.  I have many of my closest people coming and I'm very excited to see them all.  Sunday is also judgement day for a decision I have to make so we'll see how that outcome plays out.

Anywho that's it for now...picture update later!!

Are you a real housewife?

Mama's Losin' It
Time for weekly writing prompts - yay!
This week I chose:  10 reasons why you could not be a real housewife from any county.
Living in St. Louis, I highly doubt that Real Housewives will ever start a series in Missouri.  However here's why I may not make it with the show:
1)  Botox is not for me!!  I'm sorry but enhancing myself with fakeness just isn't my thing.  Not to mention the cost of it is way too expensive.
2)  Stilettos are for going out only!!  Since I'm a teacher (and yes I know how to run in heels) I'm not a daily heel wearer so seeing those ladies on a daily, hour by hour basis in stilettos sometimes makes my feet hurt.
3)  I might be a blonde but I'm not a fake blonde who's dye went to her head!
4)  I don't feel the need to spend XXX amount of money on a handbag that I may only use once.
5)  I travel but its to see what places have to offer, not to go sit in a box and sulk the entire time.
6)  I don't diss my friends just to look better than them...on tv!
7)  My boobs are the real thing, nothing fake about them.
8)  I spend quality time with my significant other, and don't travel all the time with just my work and/or kids.
9)  I don't need an upgrade to anything at the moment just because someone else might have it.
10)  Public school is okay for my future children!!
As much as I enjoy watching the shows, I don't think I'd qualify to be a housewife.  Oh well!
